A Few Words From Me

Hello and Welcome

Welcome to this small corner of the internet.

I am your host, Lilith Iris. You can just call me Iris.

It’s obviously not my real name, but who doesn’t use a fake name on the internet?

If you think that’s unusual, it’s actually pretty normal. I’d even say it’s a good practice.

About Me & My History

You may have already seen on the home page that I am what you would call a self-taught developer.

But why did I learn programming?

Well, I started around 2016 when I was still a kid. The first language I learned was Lua.

And what did I use it for?

Cheating.

Yes, you read that right.

Cheating.

You may have heard of Roblox. Roblox games are made using Lua (now Luau), and creating cheat scripts required at least some programming knowledge.

Back then, before Filtering Enabled (FE) became standard, it was a lot of fun. Looking back, that’s probably where I first discovered that I enjoyed programming.

Of course, as a kid, my understanding of programming was basically just writing Lua scripts.

Years later, when FE became widely enforced, the cheating scene changed. Most scripts became focused on auto-farming and aimbots. The fun and experimental stuff slowly disappeared.

And honestly, I changed too.

I started making the same kinds of scripts everyone else was making. Mostly auto-farming scripts.

They were useful. I could run a script, go watch YouTube, come back later, and have everything I wanted in-game.

Convenient? Absolutely.

Fun? Not really.

Around that time, some friends and I formed a small group and created a Script Hub1. Most of its features were focused on automation and farming. It gained a small community, and a few creators in the scene even made videos about it.

Eventually, the group disbanded and the project was discontinued.

I won’t go into the reasons why. This blog isn’t really about that.

After that, I picked up PHP and started experimenting with websites. I hosted one on 000webhost and built a service where users could upload and track their in-game statistics.

That was the first time I ever made money from something I created.

Yes, it was a paid service.

Some time later, I got banned from 000webhost. I honestly don’t remember why, but it happened.

Then I learned Python.

I created tools for managing Roblox windows and automation. Once again, it became paid software and, for a kid at the time, it made me quite a lot of money.

Eventually I got bored, lost interest, and discontinued it.

And after years of doing things like that, I realized something:

I was never particularly interested in building things for other people.

Most of the things I learned and created started because I wanted to solve my own problems.

That’s still true today.

Along the way, I learned other languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, and Rust, which is where I’ve mostly settled.

Recently, I’ve also started learning 3D modeling and related fields. I’m hoping to stick with it and get genuinely good at it over time. It’s one of the few things I’ve picked up recently that I want to take seriously.

This Site

This site is simply a personal blog.

Sometimes I share things I’m thinking about. Sometimes I review things. Sometimes I write about random topics that interest me.

Don’t expect a strict schedule though.

As I’m writing this, there are only a few reviews on the site.

Also, if you poke around the archive, you might notice some posts from 2025.

Back then I was running the site on Hugo. At some point I switched it to something more like a service page, no blog section, and those posts just kind of sat there. Now that I’m doing the blog thing again, I figured I’d pull them back in.

I’ve never really shared this blog with friends or people I know. Maybe because I’m shy. Maybe because I’m an introvert.

But recently I’ve started thinking that I probably should share it with a few people and get some feedback.

Blanc-on.top

This domain was originally purchased for one purpose:

Accessing my home server when I’m away from my local network.

Yes, I run a home server.

Well, technically it’s just an old laptop with questionable hardware, but it works.

What do you host?

A few things:

  • Kavita
  • Matrix
  • Git
  • Mail
  • Vaultwarden

Nothing too crazy. My hardware isn’t exactly powerful.

Why Blanc?

Blanc is one of my favorite characters from a light novel series I read.

She started as a skeleton and later evolved into a vampire.

Why .top?

Because it was cheap.

That’s honestly the entire reason.

And somehow, “Blanc-on.top” sounded nice enough that I went with it.

Later, I learned that .top has a reputation for being used in scams and phishing campaigns, probably because of how cheap it is.

Unfortunately, that’s not something I can change now.

Still, I think the domain name turned out pretty well.

Final Words

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time in this small corner of the internet.

And if you’re here to read the blog, I hope you find something interesting.
